As a Backend Engineer, you'll be integral in developing features, implementing API methods, and enhancing system performance and reliability. We follow a you-build-it-you-run-it culture, where developers take ownership of their applications in production. The role offers flexibility with optional and compensated off-hours on-call support.
The ideal candidate will have strong experience in server-side web development, particularly with technologies like Scala, Go, or similar languages. You'll work collaboratively with frontend engineers, participate in code reviews, and contribute to technical proposals. We value engineers who prioritize code quality, automated testing, and maintain high standards for production systems.

Responsibilities For Backend Engineer - Mid-Senior Level (Scala)
- Build and expand data analysis products and APIs for Release Observability product line
- Collaborate with frontend engineers to deliver user-facing features
- Monitor and improve server-side performance
- Write unit, integration, and load tests
- Actively participate in code reviews
- Write and review technical proposals
- Improve engineering standards, tooling, and processes
Requirements For Backend Engineer - Mid-Senior Level (Scala)
- Demonstrable experience with server-side web development (e.g. in Java/Scala, Ruby, Python, Golang)
- Experience with or interest in Experimentation and Statistics
- Experience building RESTful APIs
- Experience with Data ingestion
- Familiarity with computer science fundamentals
- Commitment to working in a communicative and collaborative environment
- Ability to write easily understood and maintainable code
- High standards for working with production systems
- Value for high code quality, automated testing, and engineering best practices
- Familiarity with networking technologies (TCP, HTTP, websockets, server-sent events)
