Gatik, the leader in autonomous middle mile logistics, is seeking a Senior or Staff Mechanical Engineer to join their Hardware Integration team. The role involves engineering support structures for sensor stacks, aesthetic covers, and establishing processes for low & medium volume production, with an eye towards high volume production in the future.
Key responsibilities include:
- Leading mechanical design & analysis efforts from ideation to drawing release
- Taking ownership of subsystems or complex component assemblies
- Performing FE analyses and detailed calculations
- Championing DFM, DFA & DFS efforts
- Collaborating with the validation team
- Performing tolerance stack-up analysis and using appropriate GD&T strategy
- Working on cooling solutions for sensors & electronic components
- Owning the BOM and working cross-functionally with procurement & manufacturing
- Building and bringing-up prototype vehicles
- Leading, mentoring, and growing the mechanical engineering discipline
The ideal candidate will have:
- 5+ years of experience in designing & analyzing complex mechanical structures
- An engineering degree in Mechanical, Mechatronics, or equivalent
- Experience in the automotive or transportation sector
- Excellent 3D CAD design & 2D drafting skills (SolidWorks preferred)
- Experience in FE analysis and working in an engineering process environment
- Expertise in creating Aluminum & steel designs, tolerance stacking, and component selection
- Hands-on experience with various tools and fabrication methods
