Description For Senior/Staff Vehicle Harness Engineer

Gatik, the leader in autonomous middle mile logistics, delivers goods safely and efficiently using its fleet of light & medium-duty trucks. The company focuses on short-haul, B2B logistics for Fortune 500 customers including Kroger, Walmart, Tyson Foods, Loblaw, Pitney Bowes, Georgia-Pacific, and KBX; enabling them to optimize their hub-and-spoke supply chain operations, enhance service levels and product flow across multiple locations while reducing labor costs and meeting an unprecedented expectation for faster deliveries.

As a Senior/Staff Vehicle Harness Engineer at Gatik, you will be responsible for power and signal distribution on Gatik's vehicles from concept to production. Your role involves creating engineering requirements and specifications for harnesses, collaborating with suppliers and peers to deliver functioning subsystems. You'll focus on mechanical integration, fabrication, and assembly of harness systems, applying your engineering knowledge in a hands-on environment. This role requires independence, strong communication, and documentation skills.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Owning vehicle power and signal distribution
  • Creating engineering specifications (requirements, schematics, CAD models, drawings)
  • Managing the Device transmittal (DT) process
  • Providing technical expertise on power, signal, and data bus distribution
  • Collaborating with cross-functional teams and suppliers
  • Developing tools and methods for the team
  • Mentoring junior engineers

Requirements:

  • BS/MS in Mechanical Engineering or similar (MS preferred)
  • 5+ years of hands-on experience with vehicle harnesses
  • Experience in Automotive, Truck/Transportation, and AV industry
  • Knowledge of advanced vehicle communication standards
  • Ability to design mechanical components and use CAD software
  • Strong troubleshooting and communication skills

  • 5+ years of hands-on experience with vehicle harnesses
  • Experience in the Automotive, Truck/Transportation and AV industry
  • Experience with advanced vehicle communication standards
  • Ability to size and select appropriate cables, connectors and fuses
  • Ability to design mechanical components
  • Experience with CAD software (Solidworks preferred)
  • Strong troubleshooting skills
  • Excellent communication and documentation skills
