Description For Design Engineer I - Jigs and Fixtures

Goken America, headquartered in Dublin, Ohio, is an Engineering Services and Product Development company founded in 2004. We are seeking a Design Engineer I for Jigs and Fixtures to support Prototype Fabrication Teams. This role involves engineering design and development of Jigs/Fixtures used for holding vehicle parts/assemblies during processes such as weld, paint, assembly, and testing.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Leading and supporting engineering design activities for Jigs/Fixtures in Prototype Vehicle Assembly
  • Developing components from scratch using 3-D modeling software
  • Understanding Vehicle Body-in-white (BIW) part construction
  • Supporting development groups with fixturing, test equipment, or prototyping needs
  • Creating part specifications and BOMs
  • Analyzing and resolving problems with moderate guidance

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Mechanical Technology, Aerospace, or Automotive Engineering
  • 1+ years of industry experience in Automotive Design for Body-In-White (BIW)/Sheetmetal/Machining parts
  • Experience with Jigs/Fixtures used in Prototype Vehicle Assembly (preferred)
  • Understanding of DFM, DFA, and GD&T
  • 2+ years of experience using CATIA V5 (CATIA V6 preferred)
  • Strong communication skills and proficiency in MS Office

Responsibilities For Design Engineer I - Jigs and Fixtures

  • Lead and support engineering design activities for Jigs/Fixtures in Prototype Vehicle Assembly
  • Develop components from scratch using 3-D modeling software
  • Understand Vehicle Body-in-white (BIW) part construction, datums, and weld information
  • Support development groups with fixturing, test equipment, or prototyping needs
  • Analyze and resolve problems with moderate level of guidance
  • Create part specification requirements and BOM
  • Negotiate with surrounding component business units and suppliers
  • Improve product and/or processes using best practices
  • Search for ways to increase efficiency and reduce costs
  • Travel to client sites as required

Requirements For Design Engineer I - Jigs and Fixtures

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Mechanical Technology, Aerospace, or Automotive Engineering
  • 1+ years of industry experience in Automotive Design for Body-In-White (BIW)/Sheetmetal/Machining parts
  • Understanding of DFM (Design for Manufacturing), DFA (Design for Assembly) and GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing)
  • 2+ years of experience using CATIA V5 (CATIA V6 preferred)
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Proficiency in MS office
