Description For Sales Engineer

GoNetspeed is a telecommunications service provider seeking a Sales Engineer to join their team in Rochester, NY. This key position within the Sales Department reports to the Sales Engineering Supervisor and involves close collaboration with Account Executives, Senior Account Executives, Operations, and Business Services teams.

The role offers a competitive compensation package with a base salary range of $75,000 - $85,000, plus monthly commission based on territory sales performance. As a Sales Engineer, you'll be at the intersection of technical expertise and sales, providing crucial pre-sales support for both existing and new accounts.

Your responsibilities will span from utilizing Salesforce CRM for technical sales support to identifying various access methods including UNE copper, fiber, and third-party last mile fiber providers. You'll be actively involved in customer meetings, represent the sales team in engineering reviews, and work closely with Network Engineering and OSP Engineering for project cost estimations.

The ideal candidate brings at least 5 years of experience in technical or sales engineering roles within the telecommunications industry. While a high school diploma is required, a 2 or 4-year degree is preferred. Your expertise should cover telecommunications technology, including telephony, Ethernet, IP, VoIP, and DWDM, along with knowledge of third-party fiber networks.

Responsibilities For Sales Engineer

  • Provide technical sales support for voice and data opportunities using Salesforce CRM
  • Identify potential access methods including UNE copper, fiber, and third-party last mile fiber providers
  • Participate in customer meetings in person or via virtual meetings
  • Represent sales team on weekly Engineering review calls
  • Provide technical details to Network Engineering and OSP Engineering for project cost estimation
  • Conduct sales and product knowledge training for Account Executives
  • Stay current with new technologies and suggest opportunities for new product development
  • Maintain active involvement with trade groups and vendors
  • Assist in developing cost models for products and services

Requirements For Sales Engineer

  • High school diploma required; 2 or 4-year degree preferred
  • Minimum 5 years experience in technical and/or sales engineering roles in telecommunications industry
  • Knowledge of Salesforce or similar CRM platforms
  • Expertise in telecommunications technology (telephony, Ethernet, IP, VoIP, DWDM)
  • Knowledge of Google Earth and GIS systems
  • Knowledge of third-party fiber networks
  • Strong oral and written communication skills
  • Problem-solving abilities
  • Ability to manage multiple projects in fast-paced environment
