Description For Business Data Scientist, Finance

Google's Finance Data and Analytics (DnA) team is seeking a Business Data Scientist to join their dynamic team. This role combines business acumen, technology, and innovation to drive data-driven decision-making across Google's diverse product portfolio including Ads, YouTube, Search, and Play.

As a Business Data Scientist, you'll be part of a growing team working on strategic business challenges through the lens of business generation. You'll collaborate with Data Scientists, Data Engineers, and Project Managers to create impactful data products that enable finance partners to make informed decisions and manage risks and opportunities.

The role requires strong analytical skills, with a focus on analyzing large datasets and building expert systems to improve product performance. You'll perform complex statistical analysis on non-routine problems and work closely with engineers to embed models into production systems. Your responsibilities will include managing fast-changing business priorities and interfacing with product managers and engineers.

Key aspects of the role include partnering with Finance leadership, working with Machine Learning Scientists to improve model usability, developing analytical frameworks, and contributing to a culture of learning. The ideal candidate will have experience in time series data analysis, stakeholder management, and proficiency in tools like Python, SQL, and data visualization platforms.

Responsibilities For Business Data Scientist, Finance

  • Partner with Finance leadership and their teams to understand business context, ideate, and deliver insights and prototypes
  • Work with Machine Learning Scientists and Engineers to improve usability of the Machine Learning models
  • Collaborate with Machine Learning Scientists to develop and improve models
  • Provide analyses through advanced analytics/statistical methods
  • Develop reusable and robust analytic frameworks
  • Contribute to a culture of learning, sharing and making Machine Learning accessible

Requirements For Business Data Scientist, Finance

Python
  • Bachelor's degree in Statistics, Economics, Mathematics, in a quantitative discipline, or equivalent practical experience
  • 5 years of experience in the Industry in a Data Analyst or Data Science role
  • Experience in data analysis, especially for time series data
  • Experience in stakeholder-facing or client-facing roles
  • Experience with statistical softwares, database languages, and data visualization tools
  • Excellent communication skills (written and verbal)
  • English proficiency
