Description For Cloud Engineer Associate, Application Modernization

Google Cloud is seeking a Cloud Engineer Associate for Application Modernization to join their Professional Services team. In this role, you will work with customers to transform existing enterprise applications into modern, cloud-native applications, reducing time to launch, increasing release frequency, and improving reliability. You'll propose and execute approaches to modernize customer applications and deploy them to Google Cloud Platform, including code development. Your responsibilities will include application re-design and implementation, scaling, and reliability improvements. You'll also advise on ongoing operations such as application and feature rollouts, monitoring, and more. This position requires a blend of technical expertise, customer-facing skills, and the ability to drive excellence in Google Cloud products. You'll work closely with product management and engineering teams to support customer adoption of Google Cloud products through architecture guidance, best practices, application migration, implementation, troubleshooting, and monitoring. The ideal candidate should have experience in cloud technologies, software development, and enterprise application modernization, with the ability to communicate fluently in both English and Spanish. This role offers the opportunity to shape the future of businesses of all sizes by leveraging Google's global network, web-scale data centers, and software infrastructure.

Responsibilities For Cloud Engineer Associate, Application Modernization

  • Be a trusted technical advisor to customers and solve complex software development issues
  • Deliver modern software to Google's customers, including creating and executing enterprise application transformation and migration strategies
  • Recommend approaches and estimated effort for application migration and modernization programs
  • Create and deliver best practice recommendations, tutorials, blog articles, and sample code
  • Travel up to 30% of the time in the region for meetings, technical reviews, and onsite delivery activities as needed

Requirements For Cloud Engineer Associate, Application Modernization

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or equivalent practical experience
  • Experience leading enterprise application portfolios and associated technologies: (VMWare, Openshift, Kubernetes, etc.)
  • Experience coding in one or more general purpose languages (e.g., Python, Java, Go, C or C++) including data structures, algorithms, and software design
  • Experience designing cloud enterprise solutions and supporting customer projects to completion
  • Ability to communicate in English and Spanish fluently
