Google Cloud is seeking a Customer Engineer I to join their Small/Medium Businesses team. This role combines technical expertise in cloud computing and cybersecurity with customer-facing responsibilities. As a Customer Engineer, you'll work closely with technical Sales teams as a cybersecurity subject matter expert, helping customers understand and implement Google Cloud solutions.

The position requires a strong background in cloud native architecture and cybersecurity, with emphasis on threat detection, malware intelligence, and cloud security posture management. You'll be responsible for building technical relationships with customers, conducting product demonstrations, and developing solution architectures that address complex business challenges.

The role offers a competitive compensation package ranging from $99,000 to $145,000, plus bonus, equity, and comprehensive benefits. Based in either Atlanta, GA or Austin, TX, you'll have the opportunity to work with leading companies across various industries, helping them leverage Google Cloud's cutting-edge technology for their digital transformation journey.

Key responsibilities include qualifying business opportunities, resolving technical blockers, sharing security knowledge, supporting bid responses, and conducting proof-of-concept work. You'll also collaborate with product management teams to improve solutions and multiply impact.

The ideal candidate will have 4+ years of experience in cloud native architecture, strong cybersecurity knowledge, and excellent presentation skills. Additional preferences include advanced degrees in technical fields, cloud/security certifications, and experience with enterprise security solutions implementation.

Responsibilities For Customer Engineer I, Small/Medium Businesses, Google Cloud

  • Work with the team to identify and qualify business opportunities, understand key customer technical objections, and develop the strategy to resolve technical blockers
  • Share Security knowledge to support the technical relationship with customers, including technology advocacy, supporting bid responses, product and solution briefings, proof-of-concept work
  • Work with Google Cloud products to demonstrate and prototype integrations in customer and partner environments
  • Recommend integration strategies, enterprise architectures, platforms, and application infrastructure to implement a complete solution on Google Cloud
  • Travel to customer sites, conferences, and other related events as needed, acting as a public advocate for Google Cloud

Requirements For Customer Engineer I, Small/Medium Businesses, Google Cloud

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience
  • 4 years of experience with cloud native architecture in a customer-facing or support role
  • Experience in cybersecurity matters (e.g. threat detection, malware intelligence, cloud security posture management, Identity and Access Management systems)
  • Experience engaging with, and presenting to, technical stakeholders and executive leaders
