Google Cloud is seeking a Customer Engineer III to join their platform team focusing on the retail industry. This role combines technical expertise with customer-facing responsibilities, requiring 10 years of experience in cloud native architecture. The position offers a competitive salary range of $142,000-$214,000 plus bonus, equity, and benefits.

As a Customer Engineer, you'll be at the forefront of helping leading companies leverage Google Cloud's capabilities. Your role will involve facilitating customers' transition to more productive, mobile, and collaborative work environments using Google Cloud products. You'll work closely with technical Sales teams to differentiate Google Cloud to retail customers, developing creative cloud solutions and architectures to address business challenges.

The ideal candidate will possess a Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience, with strong expertise in cloud engineering, virtualization, and containerization platforms. You'll need excellent communication skills to engage with technical stakeholders and executive leaders, along with experience in migrating applications to cloud platforms and understanding of security concepts.

Key responsibilities include identifying business opportunities, resolving technical blockers, supporting bid responses, conducting product briefings, and leading proof-of-concept work. You'll also be instrumental in prospecting and acquiring new customers, building relationships from scratch, and establishing yourself as a trusted advisor for long-term technology decisions.

  • Work with the team to identify and qualify business opportunities, understand key customer technical objections, and develop the strategy to resolve technical blockers
  • Share Google Cloud expertise to support the technical relationship with customers
  • Work directly with Google Cloud products to demonstrate and prototype integrations in customer and partner environments
  • Recommend integration strategies, enterprise architectures, platforms, and application infrastructure
  • Lead prospecting and acquisition of new logos, creating and building customer relationships from scratch

Requirements For Customer Engineer III, Platform, Retail Industry, Google Cloud

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience
  • 10 years of experience with cloud native architecture in a customer-facing or support role
  • Experience with cloud engineering, on-premise engineering, virtualization, or containerization platforms
  • Experience engaging with, and presenting to, technical stakeholders and executive leaders
  • Experience in migrating applications and services to cloud platforms
  • Experience with security concepts such as encryption, identity management, access control, attack vectors, and pen testing
  • Experience prospecting, and building and maintaining customer relationships from scratch
