Google Cloud is seeking a Customer Engineer to join their Startups team in the West region. This role combines technical expertise with customer-facing responsibilities, focusing on helping startups leverage Google Cloud for scaling and growth. The position requires 6 years of experience in cloud native architecture and offers a competitive salary range of $122,000-$180,000 plus benefits.

As a Customer Engineer, you'll work at the intersection of technical solutions and business development, specifically within the startup ecosystem. Your responsibilities will include identifying business opportunities, resolving technical blockers, and serving as a trusted advisor to customers. You'll need to demonstrate strong expertise in cloud engineering, virtualization, and containerization platforms, while also possessing the ability to engage effectively with both technical stakeholders and executive leaders.

The role involves working closely with Google Cloud products to create and demonstrate solutions for customer environments. You'll be responsible for recommending integration strategies, enterprise architectures, and infrastructure solutions. A significant part of the job involves prospecting and building new customer relationships from scratch, particularly in Greenfield territories.

Responsibilities For Customer Engineer, Startups, West, Google Cloud

  • Work with the team to identify and qualify business opportunities, understand key customer technical objections, and develop the strategy to resolve technical blockers
  • Support the technical relationship with customers, including technology advocacy, supporting bid responses, product and solution briefings, proof-of-concept work
  • Work with Google Cloud products to demonstrate and prototype integrations in customer and partner environments
  • Recommend integration strategies, enterprise architectures, platforms, and application infrastructure needed to implement a complete solution on Google Cloud
  • Lead prospecting and acquisition of new logos, creating and building customer relationships, and acting as a trusted advisor

Kubernetes
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience
  • 6 years of experience with cloud native architecture in a customer-facing or support role
  • Experience with cloud engineering, on-premise engineering, virtualization, or containerization platforms
