Google is seeking a Customer Engineer for their State Local and Education (SLED) Public Sector team. This role combines technical expertise with customer-facing responsibilities, focusing on helping educational institutions and government agencies leverage Google Cloud solutions. The position requires deep knowledge of cloud native architecture and the ability to architect solutions for public sector clients.

As a Customer Engineer, you'll work at the intersection of technical sales and cloud architecture, helping customers understand and implement Google Cloud solutions. You'll be responsible for demonstrating the value of Google Cloud products, developing creative solutions for complex business challenges, and providing technical guidance throughout the customer journey.

The role involves partnering with the Inside Sales team to introduce Google Public Sector solutions and develop scalable sales patterns. You'll be working with state, county, and local municipal agencies, requiring an understanding of public sector needs and compliance requirements. The position offers exposure to cutting-edge cloud technologies and the opportunity to influence digital transformation in government and education sectors.

Key responsibilities include technical solution design, customer engagement, proof-of-concept development, and strategic technical consulting. You'll need to stay current with emerging technologies in the Google Cloud/IT space and be able to effectively communicate technical concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Responsibilities For Customer Engineer, State Local and Education, Public Sector

  • Work with the team to identify and qualify business opportunities, understand key customer technical objections, and develop the strategy to resolve technical blockers
  • Share infrastructure modernization expertise to support the technical relationship with customers
  • Work directly with Google Cloud products to demonstrate and prototype integrations in customer and partner environments
  • Drive recommendations on integration strategies, enterprise architectures, platforms, and application infrastructure
  • Travel to customer sites, conferences, and other events as needed

Requirements For Customer Engineer, State Local and Education, Public Sector

Kubernetes
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience
  • 4 years of experience with cloud native architecture in a customer-facing or support role
  • Experience with cloud engineering, on-premise engineering, virtualization, or containerization platforms
  • Experience engaging with, and presenting to, technical stakeholders and executive leaders
