Description For Data Center Equipment Manufacturing Engineer

Google's Manufacturing Operations team seeks a Data Center Equipment Manufacturing Engineer to join their Technical Infrastructure division. This role is crucial in developing and maintaining Google's powerful computing infrastructure through custom-designed equipment. The position involves evaluating product designs, creating processes, and ensuring manufacturing quality alongside vendors. You'll collaborate with Commodity Managers and Design Engineers to meet infrastructure needs and product specifications.

As a Manufacturing Engineer, you'll lead complex projects through their entire lifecycle, working closely with the new product development team. Your expertise in advanced manufacturing techniques and Design for Manufacturing (DFM) feedback will be essential. The role requires working with Google's global manufacturing partners and implementing scalable manufacturing processes for modular data center products.

Responsibilities For Data Center Equipment Manufacturing Engineer

  • Build and maintain influential relationships with Google's global manufacturing partners, guiding their development and production capabilities in alignment with long-term Google objectives
  • Design, develop, and advocate the implementation of scalable manufacturing processes and systems for modular data center products. Optimize for cost, quality, and flexibility
  • Lead the evaluation, qualification, and strategic development of contract manufacturers with a focus on future capabilities and innovation
  • Design and implement configuration management processes within the data center domain. Be the subject matter expert developing best practices and training materials
  • Use Product Data Management (PDM) systems to create Bills of Materials (BOM), Approved Vendor Lists (AVL), and manage Engineering Change Notifications/Orders (ECN/O). Lead the Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) team to forecast and BOM structures

Requirements For Data Center Equipment Manufacturing Engineer

Linux
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Process Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or equivalent practical experience
  • 8 years of experience in manufacturing, quality, reliability, or product engineering
  • 5 years of experience in Product Lifecycle Management (PLM)
  • 4 years of experience with design and implementation of municipal high-voltage applications in data center construction
