Description For Data Center Facilities Engineer, Mechanical (English, Japanese)

The Data Center team at Google designs and operates some of the most sophisticated electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, and HVAC systems in the world. As a Data Center Facilities Engineer, Mechanical (English, Japanese), you will be responsible for operating, monitoring, and supporting physical facilities conditions in Google's data centers. Your duties will include managing heating and cooling of air and water, power supply, generators, UPS systems, electrical distribution, and control and monitoring systems. You'll inspect, maintain, and repair various data center systems, develop creative approaches to reduce operational costs while improving efficiency, and ensure environmental and safety standards are met. In emergency situations, you'll manage performance issues and outages to minimize recovery time. This role requires a combination of technical skills, problem-solving abilities, and fluency in both English and Japanese to support client relationship management in the region. You'll be part of a diverse, upbeat, and creative team committed to building and operating powerful data centers. Responsibilities For Data Center Facilities Engineer, Mechanical (English, Japanese)

  • Operate, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair mechanical equipment in a data center environment. Ensure safety rules and regulations associated with operating infrastructure
  • Provide root cause analysis, recovery, prevention actions for service failure, continuous improvement on site, and operational efficiency, and minimize environmental impact
  • Prepare and execute operation procedures, respond to work requests, and provide operational and technical expertise in required areas
  • Coordinate vendor support in repairs and replacements, and support project implementation (e.g., site acceptance tests, factory acceptance tests, site inspection for defects, etc.)
  • Develop a good understanding of the infrastructure design and sequence of operation. Prepare and conduct training, sharing with the team

Requirements For Data Center Facilities Engineer, Mechanical (English, Japanese)

Linux
  • Associate's degree, trade school certification, or other certified training in a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience
  • 4 years of experience in operating, maintaining, or troubleshooting HVAC and mechanical systems of industrial facilities
  • Ability to communicate in English and Japanese fluently to support client relationship management in this region
  • Ability to work non-standard working hours including nights, weekends, and holidays
