Description For Data Center Facilities Engineer, Mechanical (English, Japanese)

Google's Data Center team is at the forefront of designing and operating some of the world's most sophisticated electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, and HVAC systems. As a Data Center Facilities Engineer, you'll be part of a diverse and creative team responsible for operating, monitoring, and supporting physical facilities conditions. The role involves managing critical systems including heating and cooling of air and water, power supply, generators, UPS systems, and electrical distribution. You'll play a crucial role in maintaining environmental and safety standards, developing efficient operational approaches, and handling emergency situations to minimize system downtime. The position requires both English and Japanese language fluency, combining technical expertise with strong communication skills to maintain Google's world-class data center operations. Responsibilities For Data Center Facilities Engineer, Mechanical (English, Japanese)

  • Operate, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair mechanical equipment in a data center environment
  • Provide root cause analysis, recovery, prevention actions for service failure
  • Prepare and execute operation procedures, respond to work requests
  • Coordinate vendor support in repairs and replacements
  • Develop understanding of infrastructure design and sequence of operation

Requirements For Data Center Facilities Engineer, Mechanical (English, Japanese)

Linux
  • Associate's degree, trade school certification, or other certified training in a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience
  • 4 years of experience in operating, maintaining, or troubleshooting HVAC and mechanical systems of industrial facilities
  • Ability to communicate in English and Japanese fluently
  • Ability to work non-standard working hours including nights, weekends, and holidays
