Description For Data Center Operations and Maintenance Manager

The Data Center Operations and Maintenance Manager at Google leads a team responsible for maintaining and operating sophisticated electrical, mechanical, and HVAC systems in a critical facilities environment. This role involves managing campus operational budgets, setting strategy for multiple sites, and integrating Google-wide strategy with internal and external partners. The manager will focus on cost-effective operations, critical thinking, and innovation in addressing data center challenges.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Planning and executing campus operational budgets and expense forecasting
  • Setting strategy and planning deployments across multiple sites
  • Leading efforts to integrate Google-wide strategy with business partners
  • Creating strategies for cost-effective operations focused on total cost of ownership
  • Demonstrating critical thinking and innovation in approaching data center challenges

The ideal candidate will have a Bachelor's degree (Master's preferred in an Engineering field) and experience in critical facilities management, including facility, technical, and team management. Experience as a Facilities Manager or Chief Engineer in a data center or related environment is highly valued. The role requires understanding of electrical and mechanical systems in a data center, strong leadership skills, and fluency in both French and English.
