Description For Data Center Operations Manager

Google is seeking a Data Center Operations Manager to join their Hardware Operations team, responsible for overseeing the state-of-the-art physical infrastructure that powers Google's technology. This role combines technical expertise with leadership, requiring someone who can manage a team of Data Center Technicians while maintaining critical infrastructure.

The position offers a competitive salary range of $105,000-$151,000, plus bonus, equity, and comprehensive benefits. Based in Lithia Springs, GA, you'll be at the heart of Google's technical operations, leading a team responsible for installing, configuring, and maintaining server hardware and software components.

As a manager, you'll need 2 years of team management experience and 4 years of technical experience in computing infrastructure, networking, or hardware. The role requires a Bachelor's degree in a technical field or equivalent experience, and you must be comfortable working non-standard hours and different shifts.

Your responsibilities will include overseeing daily operations, communicating priorities across shifts, problem-solving for global computing architecture, and developing your team while meeting business objectives. You'll work with Google's Linux clusters and complex networking components, making this perfect for someone with Linux/Unix administration experience and a deep understanding of network architecture.

  • Work together to identify and resolve problems and create solutions for our global computing and network architecture
  • Hire, coach and develop a team while achieving strategic business goals
  • Ensure data center-related priorities are consistent with company objectives
  • Demonstrate the ability to implement and drive the safety culture at the site

Requirements For Data Center Operations Manager

Linux
  • Bachelor's degree in a technical field or equivalent practical experience
  • 2 years of experience managing technical teams, vendor or contract management and delivery
  • Ability to work non-standard hours and differing rotations/shifts
  • 4 years of experience in computing infrastructure, networking, operating systems, or hardware
  • Experience with Linux/Unix system administration
  • Knowledge of networks and computer hardware architecture
  • Excellent problem solving skills
