Description For Data Center Operations Manager, Server Operations

Google's Hardware Operations team is seeking a Data Center Operations Manager to lead and manage teams responsible for the company's state-of-the-art physical infrastructure. This role combines technical expertise with leadership, overseeing server hardware installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting while managing Data Center Technicians.

The position requires a strong background in computing infrastructure, with 8 years of experience and fluency in both English and Dutch. You'll be responsible for managing complex installations, server configurations, and networking components while leading critical data center initiatives around security, maintenance, and networking.

As a manager, you'll analyze data trends, drive process improvements, and serve as an escalation point for data center sites. The role involves collaboration with Program Managers and Data Center Operations teams to shape both short and long-term strategies. You'll be part of a diverse, creative team that designs and operates some of the world's most sophisticated electrical and HVAC systems.

Responsibilities For Data Center Operations Manager, Server Operations

  • Oversee the day-to-day management of teams within data center operations
  • Communicate priorities and facilitate hand-off of operations to following shift leads
  • Work together to identify and resolve problems and create solutions for our global computing and network architecture
  • Manage the implementation of projects within the team
  • Ensure data center-related priorities are consistent with company objectives

Requirements For Data Center Operations Manager, Server Operations

Linux
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience
  • 8 years of experience in computing infrastructure, networking, operating systems, or hardware
  • 5 years of experience managing technical teams, vendor or agreement management and delivery
  • Ability to communicate in English and Dutch fluently
  • Experience working in data center environments
  • Ability to travel up to 30% of the time as needed
