Description For Data Center Server Operations Manager

Google is seeking a Data Center Server Operations Manager to lead a team of Data Center Technicians. This role involves overseeing the quality installation of server hardware and components, managing complicated installations/troubleshooting, and leading the team in installing, configuring, testing, troubleshooting, and maintaining hardware and server software.

The Hardware Operations team is responsible for monitoring Google's state-of-the-art physical infrastructure. As a manager, you'll oversee server hardware and components installation, lead complex troubleshooting, and manage the configuration of advanced components like networks, routers, and switches.

Key responsibilities include:

  1. Leading a team, setting priorities, and providing performance feedback and coaching.
  2. Partnering with stakeholders to manage facility activities and implement strategies.
  3. Maintaining security and operational procedures, identifying improvement opportunities.
  4. Performing equipment maintenance and repairs.
  5. Supporting Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) compliance programs.

The ideal candidate will have a Bachelor's degree in a technical field (or equivalent experience), 5 years of experience in computing infrastructure, and 2 years of experience managing technical teams. Experience in data center environments, ability to implement safety culture, and excellent problem-solving skills are preferred.

This role offers a competitive salary range of $99,000-$145,000 plus bonus, equity, and benefits. Google is committed to diversity, equality, and creating an inclusive work environment.

Responsibilities For Data Center Server Operations Manager

  • Lead a team, set and communicate individual and team priorities that support organizational goals
  • Partner with teams to meet goals and stakeholders to manage facility activities and set/implement short- and long-term strategies
  • Maintain, monitor, and execute security and operational procedures and track/investigative trends to identify opportunities for improvements
  • Repair, fix, and perform preventative maintenance on equipment, servers, machines, or infrastructure
  • Support and contribute to the implementation of Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) and other compliance programs

Requirements For Data Center Server Operations Manager

Linux
  • Bachelor's degree in a technical field or equivalent practical experience
  • 5 years of experience in computing infrastructure, networking, operating systems, or hardware
  • 2 years of experience managing technical teams, vendor or contract management and delivery
  • Ability to work non-standard hours and differing rotations/shifts
