Google's Hardware Operations team seeks a Data Center Server Operations Manager to lead their night shift operations. This role is crucial in maintaining Google's powerful technical infrastructure that powers its search technology and broader product portfolio. The position involves managing a team of Data Center Technicians responsible for installing, configuring, and maintaining server hardware and components.

The role combines technical expertise with leadership responsibilities, overseeing quality installations and complex troubleshooting of server hardware and Google's Linux cluster. You'll be working with sophisticated networking equipment including routers, hubs, bridges, and switches, while ensuring proper implementation of networking protocols.

As part of the Technical Infrastructure team, you'll contribute to developing and maintaining Google's data centers and building next-generation platforms. The team takes pride in being the engineers' engineers, focusing on keeping networks running optimally to ensure the best user experience.

This position offers a competitive compensation package including a base salary range of $105,000-$151,000, plus bonus, equity, and comprehensive benefits.   • Oversee the day-to-day management of teams within data center operations
  • Work together to identify and resolve problems and create solutions for our global computing and network architecture
  • Manage the implementation of projects within the team. Communicate priorities and facilitate hand-off of operations to following shift leads
  • Hire, coach, and develop a team while achieving business goals. Demonstrate the ability to implement and drive the safety culture at the site
  • Ensure data center-related priorities are consistent with company objectives

Requirements For Data Center Server Operations Manager (Night Shift)

Linux
  • Bachelor's degree in a technical field or equivalent practical experience
  • 5 years of experience in computing infrastructure, networking, operating systems, or hardware
  • 2 years of experience managing technical teams, vendor or contract management and delivery
  • Ability to work non-standard hours and differing rotations/shifts
