Description For Data Center Services Manager

Google is seeking a Data Center Services Manager to lead their Technical Infrastructure team's design, construction, and capital project support operations. This role combines technical expertise with leadership, focusing on managing build projects and developing teams of engineers and project managers. The position requires extensive experience in mission-critical facilities, particularly data centers, with a strong background in program management and leadership.

The role involves working with various stakeholders, from external partners to internal teams, ensuring efficient project delivery and maintaining high standards of safety and quality. You'll be responsible for overseeing complex technical systems including switchgear, generators, chillers, and various control systems, while managing cross-functional teams and projects.

As part of Google's Technical Infrastructure team, you'll contribute to the architecture that powers Google's extensive product portfolio. The team takes pride in being the engineers' engineers, focusing on maintaining and developing data centers and next-generation Google platforms. This ensures users have the best and fastest experience possible across Google's services.

The position offers a competitive compensation package, including a base salary range of $214,000-$305,000, plus bonus, equity, and comprehensive benefits. Responsibilities For Data Center Services Manager

  • Interact with leadership from external stakeholders, trades, commissioning agents to develop understanding of project issues, risks, and opportunities across multiple functions
  • Align teams around an understanding of project delivery strategy, functional milestones, and workflow for capital improvement and greenfield projects
  • Provide leadership and development focus to internal teams consisting of project management and engineering roles
  • Develop an organization with a customer service orientation to internal stakeholders

Requirements For Data Center Services Manager

Linux
  • Bachelor's degree in a technical field, or equivalent practical experience
  • 10 years of experience in program management
  • 10 years of experience in the design-build or real estate development environment
  • 10 years of experience in mission-critical facilities (e.g., data centers, chip fab, etc.)
  • 7 years of experience in leadership role(s) with/without direct reports
  • Experience in data center equipment/environments
  • Experience in design, construction, and commissioning of facilities
