Description For Data Center Services Manager

Google's Data Center Engineering team is at the forefront of innovative data center design and operations. As a Data Center Services Manager, you'll be instrumental in shaping the future of Google's technical infrastructure. This role combines technical expertise with leadership responsibilities, overseeing the development and operation of mission-critical facilities. You'll work closely with facility managers, plant engineers, and design teams to develop scalable solutions for Google's data center operations.

The position requires deep technical knowledge of data center environments, including complex systems like switchgear, generators, chillers, and security systems. You'll manage large-scale construction projects, oversee vendor relationships, and drive operational excellence through KPI measurement and process improvement. This role is perfect for someone who combines technical expertise with strong leadership abilities and a passion for infrastructure optimization.

Responsibilities For Data Center Services Manager

  • Establish and maintain delivery models and global relationships with multiple vendors, measuring Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) and metrics
  • Create growth plans and be involved in hiring/recruiting of talent. Create scalable training programs to help ensure the success of team members
  • Research and implement construction means and methods of data center equipment and facilities, and carry design concepts into production and integrate into facilities
  • Manage a large, site-wide data center construction and delivery organization
  • Act as a single point of accountability and oversight related to major, new construction projects or large capital improvement projects in existing facilities
  • Support the development of detailed, localized designs, leveraged from the programmatic design Plan of Records (PoR)
  • Drive procurement, construction, and commissioning

Requirements For Data Center Services Manager

Linux
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical, Mechanical, Industrial, Construction Engineering, Construction Management or equivalent practical experience
  • 10 years of experience in mission critical facility design and construction environments
  • Experience with data center equipment/environments, including switchgear, generators, chillers, cooling towers, air handling units, controls, security monitoring systems, and fire safety systems
  • Experience with project management
  • Experience in Vendor management
  • Knowledge of fast-track design build processes/associated documents and agreements, and electrical and mechanical systems
  • Knowledge of start up/commissioning processes
