Google's Hardware Operations team is seeking a Data Center Technician to join their Technical Operations division in Phoenix, AZ. This role is crucial in maintaining Google's state-of-the-art physical infrastructure that powers their search technology and other services. As a Data Center Technician, you'll be hands-on with server hardware, Linux systems, and networking components, ensuring the smooth operation of Google's data centers.

The position offers a competitive salary range of $66,500-$100,000, plus additional benefits including bonus and equity. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with technical troubleshooting experience who enjoys working with cutting-edge infrastructure and isn't afraid of physical work. You'll be responsible for installing, configuring, and maintaining hardware components, as well as troubleshooting complex systems.

Responsibilities For Data Center Technician, Technical Operations

  • Deploy and operate new data center infrastructure across projects or functions
  • Report issues and follow data center procedures to troubleshoot and diagnose issues with equipment or infrastructure
  • Maintain the security and integrity of data
  • Disassemble specific equipment that has reached its end-of-life
  • Repair, fix, and perform preventative maintenance on equipment, servers, machines, or infrastructure

Requirements For Data Center Technician, Technical Operations

Linux
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience
  • Experience diagnosing and troubleshooting operating systems and computer/server hardware or networking protocols
  • Ability to lift/move 50lb (23kg) of equipment
  • Ability to work non-standard hours, including weekends, holidays and shift-based schedule
  • 2 years of experience preferred in diagnostics and troubleshooting
  • Experience working within a data center or network operation center environment preferred
  • Ability to collaborate and partner with teams
  • Ability to adapt to changes in a dynamic work environment
