Google's Age Assurance team is seeking a Data Scientist II to join their mission of providing reliable, privacy-preserving age signals across Google's platforms. This role combines technical expertise in data analysis with strategic thinking to support age-appropriate user experiences. The position offers a competitive base salary range of $102,000-$150,000, plus additional benefits including bonus and equity.

As a Data Scientist II, you'll be responsible for performing sophisticated data analysis using tools like SQL, R, and Python, while working closely with Engineering and Product Management teams. The role involves gathering and analyzing data, designing experiments, and providing critical insights that shape product decisions. You'll be particularly focused on identifying minors through predictive methods and designing user experiences for age verification.

The ideal candidate should have a Master's degree in a quantitative field and at least one year of experience in statistical analysis and data mining. Strong programming skills in Python, Java, and SQL are preferred, along with experience in statistical analysis tools like R, Stata, or SPSS. You'll need to demonstrate both technical proficiency and excellent communication skills, as you'll be working cross-functionally and presenting findings to various stakeholders.

Responsibilities For Data Scientist II, Product, Age Assurance, Trust Experience

  • Perform analysis utilizing relevant tools (e.g. SQL, R, Python)
  • Own the process of gathering, extracting, and compiling data across sources via relevant tools
  • Select appropriate approaches from clear options to address technical challenges
  • Develop working relationships outside of the team to contribute to cross-project collaborations
  • Help design and analyze experiments and consult with eng teams on the analysis of A/B tests

Requirements For Data Scientist II, Product, Age Assurance, Trust Experience

  • Master's degree in Statistics, Economics, Engineering, Mathematics, a related quantitative field, or equivalent practical experience
  • 1 year of experience with statistical data analysis, data mining, and querying (e.g., SQL)
  • Experience in scripting or statistical analysis (e.g., R, Stata, SPSS, SAS)
  • Experience in scripting or programming languages (Python, Java)
  • 1 year of experience developing and managing metrics or evaluating programs/products
  • Deep interest and aptitude in data, metrics, analysis and trends and applied knowledge of measurement, statistics and program evaluation
