Description For Distinguished Engineer, Insider Risks

Google's Privacy, Safety, and Security (PSS) team is seeking a Distinguished Engineer to lead their Insider Risks initiatives. This role combines technical leadership with security expertise, focusing on protecting Google's users and their data. The position requires leading cross-functional teams to develop comprehensive risk mitigation solutions across multiple technical domains including access control, network security, and Cloud security.

As a Distinguished Engineer, you'll work within the Core team, which builds the technical foundation behind Google's flagship products. You'll be responsible for bringing together insider risk reduction across multiple risk areas, providing strategic technical leadership, and developing holistic security solutions. The role involves working with access infrastructure, access management, and endpoint security management.

The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in enterprise security, with a strong background in technical risk analysis and leadership. You'll need to balance competing risk reduction needs, prioritize security initiatives, and make strategic decisions about build versus buy solutions. This position offers the opportunity to shape Google's security architecture and protect millions of users worldwide.

The role comes with competitive compensation including a base salary range of $349,000-$485,000, plus bonus, equity, and comprehensive benefits. Responsibilities For Distinguished Engineer, Insider Risks

  • Provide technical leadership to bring the insider risk reduction across different risk areas together, guide the reasoning across different risk areas, and develop holistic risk mitigation solutions across multiple technical areas
  • Provide technical leadership to drive the overall planning, execution, and successful delivery of projects intended for mitigating various insider risks
  • Work with cross-functional leaders in PSS to get alignment on the roadmaps, and oversee the execution and delivery of the engineering projects related to insider risk mitigation
  • Lead execution for critical projects and areas, partnering with the relevant engineering and cross-functional leaders
  • Cultivate, inspire, and reward a highly functional engineering team to ensure that our goals are met. Support career development of team members, and be a good coach

Requirements For Distinguished Engineer, Insider Risks

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, similar technical field of study, or equivalent practical experience
  • 15 years of professional experience in software engineering
  • 15 years of experience leading in a technical capacity or leading technical risk analysis in an enterprise environment
