Description For Engineering Analyst, Messages Spam and Abuse

Google's Trust and Safety team is seeking an Engineering Analyst to join their Messages Spam and Abuse team, focusing on protecting users across Google's messaging ecosystem. This role combines data analysis, security expertise, and project management to fight fraud and abuse across products like xMS, RCS, and Google Messages.

The position offers an opportunity to work with cutting-edge technology and contribute to user safety at a global scale. You'll be part of a diverse team of experts working to reduce risk and fight abuse across all of Google's products, protecting users, advertisers, and publishers worldwide in over 40 languages.

Responsibilities For Engineering Analyst, Messages Spam and Abuse

  • Analyze emerging trends, conduct complex data analysis, and identify new signals for scaled enforcement
  • Develop understanding of abuse in messaging and available intelligence
  • Work with cross-functional teams to design and build anti-abuse protections
  • Build monitoring and alerting dashboards to track abuse levels
  • Lead projects to prevent Google's infrastructure from abuse, harm, or fraud

Requirements For Engineering Analyst, Messages Spam and Abuse

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience
  • 2 years of experience in data analysis, including identifying trends and drawing insights from data
  • 2 years of experience managing projects and defining project scope, goals, and deliverables
  • Experience with data analysis and database management (SQL, Python, etc.)
  • Experience with fraud/abuse investigations and security analysis preferred
  • Knowledge in Messaging (xMS/RCS) or SIM/Phone Number fraud and abuse preferred
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills
  • Problem-solving and critical thinking skills with attention to detail
