Google's Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) team is seeking a senior engineering leader to spearhead the strategy and development of the Rollouts production platform. This role sits at the heart of Google's Technical Infrastructure team, responsible for the architecture that powers Google's vast product portfolio. The position focuses on leading the vision, strategy, development, adoption, evolution, and operations of the Rollouts platform - a canonical Continuous Deployment (CD) solution for Alphabet and Google service owners.
The role requires a seasoned technical leader with 15+ years of experience in distributed infrastructure, who can drive innovation in continuous deployment solutions while managing complex stakeholder relationships. You'll be responsible for transforming the Rollouts platform into a sophisticated, user-centric system that handles everything from binary deployments to database schema changes.
As Engineering Director, you'll lead a geographically distributed team of senior software engineers, working across organizational boundaries to deliver seamless integration with build, test, release, capacity management, and observability journeys. The position offers the opportunity to shape the future of Google's deployment infrastructure while working with cutting-edge technology and some of the world's most complex systems.

Responsibilities For Engineering Director, P2020 Rollouts
- Own, innovate and transform the Rollouts platform into an opinionated, vision-based, UX research-driven and designed platform experience
- Own, innovate and drive adoption of new capabilities as the Rollouts platform evolves
- Define and meet CUJ-based SLO commitments across CD experience
- Collaborate with teams building baseline compute, configs/data, experiments, traffic management, database schema and capacity management infrastructure
- Partner with teams delivering solutions for the adjacent build, test, release journeys
- Commit to managing, growing, recruiting and inspiring a representative, equitable, respectful team and workplace
Requirements For Engineering Director, P2020 Rollouts
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience
- 15 years of experience in technical leadership in distributed infrastructure
- Experience creating tools for developers
- Experience managing a geographically distributed team of senior software engineers that manage production services
- Experience growing and building teams, as well as working with stakeholders and collaborating across organizational boundaries
- Strong communication skills with the ability to create a shared vision and motivate others
- Capable of technical deep-dives in design reviews and being able to hold your own in a strategy discussion with Google's executive team
