Google's Office of the CTO (OCTO) is seeking an Engineering Manager to lead their Applied Innovation Factory team in EMEA. This role combines technical leadership with people management, focusing on cutting-edge Generative AI initiatives. You'll work at the intersection of innovation and enterprise solutions, collaborating with Google's senior technical leaders and strategic customers.
The position requires a strong technical background with 8+ years of software development experience and proven expertise in machine learning, particularly in Generative AI, Large Language Models, and Multi-Modal systems. You'll need 3 years of technical leadership experience and 2 years of people management experience.
As the Engineering Manager, you'll build and lead a team exploring transformative market opportunities, turning innovative ideas into actionable solutions. You'll work closely with OCTO's Principal Engineers, Technical Directors, and various Google Product/Engineering teams to drive strategic initiatives.

Responsibilities For Engineering Manager, Generative AI, Applied Innovation Factory
- Set clear expectations with individuals based on their level and role
- Review code developed by other engineers and provide feedback
- Lead OCTO's AIF EMEA team collaborating with various stakeholders
- Leverage technical expertise to identify and refine promising projects
- Build an inclusive, collaborative and effective team coaching and mentoring
Requirements For Engineering Manager, Generative AI, Applied Innovation Factory
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience
- 8 years of experience with software development in one or more programming languages
- 3 years of experience in a technical leadership role
- 2 years of experience in people management/team leadership
- Experience with machine learning algorithms and tools
- Experience in Generative AI (Large Language Models, Multi-Modal)
- Master's degree or PhD in Engineering, Computer Science preferred
- 3 years of experience working in complex, matrixed organization preferred
- Entrepreneur or startup experience within larger organization preferred
- Knowledge of Cloud or AI preferred
