Google is seeking a Front End CAD/EDA-Methodology Tool Development Engineer to join their Technical Infrastructure team. This role combines hardware expertise with software development, focusing on creating custom silicon solutions for Google's direct-to-consumer products. The position requires deep knowledge of ASIC chip design and modern EDA tools, with a strong emphasis on implementing AI/ML techniques in chip design methodology.

The role involves working closely with Google's Deepmind team and various chip project teams to standardize methodology and improve chip design processes. You'll be responsible for developing and implementing software automation solutions to address bottlenecks in ASIC and SoC EDA flows, while also leading internal software tools development and automation efforts.

As a Staff Engineer, you'll be expected to provide technical leadership in an innovative and fast-paced environment, focusing on infrastructure for chip design. The position offers the opportunity to work on projects that have a substantial impact on Google's Technical Infrastructure, contributing to the architecture that powers Google's extensive product portfolio.

The ideal candidate should have extensive experience in ASIC chip design, strong programming skills in Python/C++, and a deep understanding of hardware electronic design automation tools. Responsibilities For Front End CAD/EDA-Methodology Tool Development Engineer, Silicon

  • Partner with the Google Deepmind team to incorporate AI/ML techniques in chip design methodology
  • Partner with Chip Project teams to influence and standardize methodology across projects
  • Propose, design, and implement software automation addressing bottlenecks in ASIC and SoC EDA flow
  • Lead the development of internal software tools and automation efforts
  • Work directly with hardware team on projects-prototype and deploy tools

Requirements For Front End CAD/EDA-Methodology Tool Development Engineer, Silicon

Python
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience
  • 8 years of experience in ASIC Chip Design
  • 5 years of experience with hardware electronic design automation tools
  • Experience in Python/C++ programming
  • Experience in writing code and design practices
  • Experience planning and deploying new tools and flows to users (preferred)
  • Experience in AI/ML methods for ASIC development (preferred)
  • Knowledge of chip design processes (preferred)
  • Ability to present and explain novel methods to users (preferred)
  • Strong programming/software skills like C/C++/Python (preferred)
