Google is seeking a Global Commodity Manager to join their Technical Infrastructure team, focusing on semiconductors and passive components. This role is crucial in bridging the gap between Engineering teams and suppliers, ensuring Google has the necessary supplies and equipment for their innovative products. The position requires deep industry knowledge and strategic supplier relationship management to optimize total cost ownership for Google's global infrastructure.

The role sits within Google's Technical Infrastructure team, which is fundamental to keeping Google's vast array of products and services running smoothly. This team is responsible for developing and maintaining data centers and building next-generation Google platforms. They take pride in being the "engineers' engineers" and are passionate about infrastructure optimization.

As a Global Commodity Manager, you'll be responsible for developing comprehensive sourcing strategies, managing supplier relationships, and ensuring efficient supply chain operations. You'll work closely with Engineering teams for early engagement, lead supplier operational teams, and manage critical aspects like manufacturing lead times and capacity modeling.

The ideal candidate should have a strong technical background with at least 7 years of experience in procurement and supply chain management, particularly in semiconductor or passive categories. Responsibilities For Global Commodity Manager, Semiconductors and Passives

  • Develop long-term sourcing strategies for semiconductors and passive commodities. Develop and manage master purchase agreements with suppliers
  • Lead the supplier operational team to achieve optimal manufacturing lead time and efficient supply chain
  • Define manufacturing key stages, bottle-necks, and develop/monitor metrics for capacity model analysis
  • Manage suppliers for design capability, technology alignment, cost, quality, and delivery
  • Interface with Engineering for early engagement
  • Organize supplier audits for the process readiness and quality

Requirements For Global Commodity Manager, Semiconductors and Passives

  • Bachelor's degree in a technical or engineering field or equivalent practical experience
  • 7 years of experience in procurement and supply chain management
  • Experience in semiconductor or passive categories as a commodity manager
  • Experience in negotiating agreements and supplier development
  • Master's degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent practical experience (preferred)
  • 10 years of experience in sourcing semiconductor or passive components (preferred)
  • Managing capacitors, Inductors and magnetic technologies (preferred)
  • Experience working with NPI and Contract Manufacturers (preferred)
