Description For Global Commodity Manager, Thermal, Google Cloud

Google is seeking a Global Commodity Manager for their Cloud division, focusing on thermal solutions. This role is crucial in managing supplier relationships and ensuring timely delivery of high-quality materials for Google's infrastructure. The position involves working closely with Engineering teams to optimize the total cost of ownership for Google's growing global infrastructure. As a Thermal Commodity Manager, you'll partner with Executive Thermal Global Commodity Managements, provide strategic input, and execute commodity strategies. You'll be responsible for building and scaling supply ecosystems, leading supplier selections, and driving supply chain improvements. The role is part of the Technical Infrastructure team, which is fundamental in maintaining Google's data centers and building next-generation platforms. The ideal candidate will combine technical expertise with strong business acumen, capable of managing complex supplier relationships while driving innovation in thermal solutions. This position offers the opportunity to make a significant impact on Google's infrastructure efficiency and cost-effectiveness, working at a scale where even small improvements can yield substantial benefits.

Responsibilities For Global Commodity Manager, Thermal, Google Cloud

  • Provide input to commodity strategies and execute on them. Co-Lead cross-functional teams through robust supplier selection for new platforms
  • Partner with executive colleagues to conduct high-level negotiations and secure comprehensive agreements with supplier executives
  • Maintain high level of industry expertise and supplier/market conditions through research and convey market research for all Data Center thermal solutions
  • Manage supplier performance in cost, quality, delivery and technology alignment through weekly meetings and scorecard reviews
  • Implement supply chain improvements, quarter quoting, and cost reductions. Work with suppliers on material escalations

Requirements For Global Commodity Manager, Thermal, Google Cloud

  • Bachelor's degree in a technical or engineering field or equivalent practical experience
  • 4 years of experience in procurement and supply chain management
  • MBA or Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering, or in a related field (preferred)
  • Experience with global thermal supply base and technologies for server and storage infrastructure
  • Experience in thermal management from infrastructure to chip including next generation cooling technologies, materials, components and solutions
  • Ability to travel, and drive change with a long term perspective across multiple functions
  • Ability to work in ambiguous situations, and resolve conflicts while working cross-functionally
  • Excellent leadership, management, with outstanding business acumen, decision-making, and investigative skills
