Group Product Manager, Google Spanner

Cloud Spanner is an enterprise-grade, globally distributed, strongly consistent database that is built for the cloud and offers relational semantics at pretty much any scale. As the database technology that powers most of the services on Google and Google Cloud Platform, Spanner is one of the most innovative and critical services for supporting high scale, business-critical workloads. The primary mission of our team is to enable businesses to deliver highly scalable, secure, performant, and reliable solutions without needing to manage any of the heavy-lifting associated with managing large-scale distributed databases.

In this role, you will provide leadership for one of the largest and innovative database systems. You will build a clear understanding of database technologies, market trends, and customer requirements to help shape the overall product strategy. You will interact with customers and partners to understand their key requirements and help define a credible product roadmap. You will drive product development collaborating closely with engineering, user-experience design, finance, product operations, marketing, and field teams. Additionally, you will drive positioning, pricing, and go to market strategy for our launches.

This role requires a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Mathematics, Statistics, or a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience. You should have 10 years of experience in product management, consulting, co-founder or related technical role, and 5 years of experience building and shipping technical products. Experience with distributed systems, databases, or cloud technology is essential.
