Google Quantum AI's team mission is to make useful quantum computing tools available to the world to enable humankind to solve problems that would otherwise be impossible. The Scalable Hardware group within Quantum AI is responsible for developing the hardware needed to support our roadmap including cryogenic systems, wiring and interconnects, and electronics.
As the Scalable Cryogenic Systems Hardware Engineering Manager, you will align scalable cryogenic technologies to the Quantum AI roadmap, establishing robust R&D efforts where necessary. You will manage our team of cryogenic engineers and researchers, and develop strong connections with internal groups to understand cryogenic roadmap needs, including new research challenges and unique cryogenic requirements derived from quantum computer architectures. In this role, you will participate in the development of Quantum computer architectures by including cryogenic constraints and tradespace knowledge. You will work closely with multiple key vendors, partners, and collaborators for development and production, ensuring timeliness, performance and cost effectiveness.
The position requires a Bachelor's degree in a technical field (physics, applied physics, astronomy, or mechanical engineering) or equivalent experience, 8 years of experience with cryogenic systems, and experience leading cryogenic system projects. Preferred qualifications include experience with cryogenic temperature thermal modeling and analysis, low temperature fluid dynamics, designing, building, and debugging cryogenic systems, building risk models and successful project execution, and expertise with ultra-low temperature cryogenic systems (less than 20mK).
Join Google's Quantum AI team and contribute to the development of cutting-edge quantum computing technology, working on scalable cryogenic systems that are crucial for the future of quantum computers.
