As a Hardware Power Test Engineering Manager at Google, you will lead a team of hardware test engineers focused on onboard power validation and hardware design reviews. Your responsibilities include managing the team's participation in hardware design reviews, performing onboard power validation, and liaising between hardware engineering teams and the lab team. You'll ensure lab resources are accounted for and the team is prepared for new products and sustaining efforts.
You'll be part of the Technical Infrastructure team, which is responsible for building and maintaining Google's data centers and platforms. This team plays a crucial role in making Google's product portfolio possible by developing and maintaining the architecture behind everything users see online.
Key responsibilities include: • Defining, executing, and documenting electrical characterization, validation, and qualification of on-board system-level power distribution networks (PDN). • Driving improvements in power measurement methodologies, test automation, and processes across compute and Machine Learning products. • Supporting design engineers with debug, component validation, and failure analysis of released products. • Collecting and analyzing data to enable data-driven engineering decisions and reporting on findings. • Collaborating with hardware designers and diagnostics development teams to understand new project power distribution architectures and system test requirements.
The ideal candidate will have a Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Physics, or a related field, with 6 years of experience in DC-DC power design or testing (or 5 years with an advanced degree). You should have 3 years of engineering management experience and expertise in areas such as DC-DC converters, open compute power architecture, SoC power architecture, and component-/tray-/rack-level power management.
