Description For Hardware Security Engineering Manager, Product Security Engineering

Google Cloud is seeking a Hardware Security Engineering Manager to lead their Product Security Engineering (PSE) team within the Cloud CISO organization. This role combines technical leadership with security expertise, focusing on securing off-the-shelf hardware/firmware used in Cloud products. The position requires deep expertise in hardware and firmware security, with responsibilities spanning team management, security assessments, and vendor collaboration.

The role offers an opportunity to work at the forefront of cloud infrastructure security, managing a team that directly impacts the security posture of Google Cloud's hardware components. You'll be responsible for conducting security reviews of critical business devices, from HSMs to servers, and driving improvements through collaboration with various stakeholders.

The ideal candidate brings 8+ years of security engineering experience, with proven leadership capabilities and deep technical knowledge in hardware/firmware security. You'll work in a dynamic environment where you'll interface with both technical teams and organizational leadership, presenting findings and driving security improvements.

Responsibilities For Hardware Security Engineering Manager, Product Security Engineering

  • Manage a team of Security Engineers
  • Scope out and identify business critical hardware/firmware devices within Cloud for team review
  • Perform holistic hardware and firmware security review of critical business devices (e.g., HSMs, Servers, Switches, SSDs)
  • Present and campaign the risk findings and risk mitigation recommendations to technical and organizational leadership
  • Partner and collaborate with device vendors to advocate for necessary design changes to hardware and firmware

Requirements For Hardware Security Engineering Manager, Product Security Engineering

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience
  • 8 years of experience with security assessments or security design reviews or threat modeling
  • 8 years of coding experience in one or more general purpose languages
  • 8 years of experience with security engineering, computer and network security, and security protocols
  • 3 years of experience leading teams in a technical capacity or leading technical risk analysis
  • Experience with hardware and firmware security
  • Experience with reverse engineering (preferred)
