Description For Hardware Validation Engineer, Platforms

You will support new product engineering and development in Google's hardware Research and Development (R&D) labs by helping to design, build, and maintain system-level testbeds (think data center-scale). The role involves working with teams to develop software and hardware systems, developing methodologies and tools, coordinating interactions between labs and engineering, and providing technical expertise during deployment activities. You'll be responsible for designing and building complex system-level testbeds, maintaining lab space and infrastructure, and anticipating and resolving problems by applying your knowledge and skills. This position requires a mix of technical skills, problem-solving abilities, and collaboration with various teams.

Key Responsibilities: • Design and build complex system-level testbeds • Maintain lab space, tools, and infrastructure • Develop software and hardware systems • Create methodologies and tools to support team members • Coordinate interactions between labs and engineering • Anticipate and resolve problems, escalating issues when appropriate • Generate implementation plans • Provide technical expertise during deployment activities

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in electrical engineering, computer engineering, or a related field, with experience in data center environments, networking protocols, and Linux. They should be able to work collaboratively, manage priorities, and have excellent time management skills. Experience with Python or other scripting languages is a plus.

Requirements For Hardware Validation Engineer, Platforms

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Physics, or a specialized field (e.g., Optics, Sensors, Audio/Digital Signal Processing(DSP), etc.), or equivalent practical experience
  • 1 year of experience working in a data center technical environment, or an advanced degree
  • Experience with standard networking protocols and various cabling and interconnect technologies (e.g. fiber or copper)
  • Experience with Linux
