Description For Logistics Operations Manager

Google is seeking a Logistics Operations Manager to lead their data center logistics operations. This role is crucial in optimizing logistics processes while incorporating industry standards and best practices. The position involves managing multiple data center locations, leading cross-functional projects, and working with third-party logistics partners.

As a Logistics Operations Manager, you'll be responsible for process improvements, change management, and standardization of documentation. You'll lead new project initiatives for the Americas server operations logistics, create Business Requirements Documents, and work closely with key stakeholders. The role requires strong leadership skills and the ability to motivate innovation.

The position is part of Google's Technical Infrastructure team, which is responsible for building and maintaining the architecture that powers Google's product portfolio. This team ensures networks run efficiently and users have the best possible experience.

The ideal candidate should have extensive experience in logistics operations, vendor management, and customer-facing roles. A Bachelor's degree in a relevant field is required, and a Master's degree or CSCMP certification is preferred. The role requires significant travel (up to 75%) and offers competitive compensation including base salary, bonus, equity, and benefits.

Responsibilities For Logistics Operations Manager

  • Own the day-to-day logistics operations management of multiple data center locations
  • Create, lead, and support cross-functional company initiatives/projects
  • Manage third-party logistics partners with associates on their teams dedicated to our account
  • Manage and monitor metrics for Key Performance Indicators (KPIs), vendor performance scorecards
  • Manage quarterly budgets, invoice control, and capital improvement projects
  • Recognize improvement opportunities to the cost or quality of services

Requirements For Logistics Operations Manager

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Logistics, Operations, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience
  • 7 years of experience in domestic and international environments managing vendors
  • 7 years of experience in a customer or client-facing role supporting logistics operations
  • Ability to travel up to 75% of the time
