Google's Manufacturing Operations team seeks a Manufacturing Data Engineer to join their Technical Infrastructure division. This role is crucial in managing Google's extensive computing infrastructure manufacturing capabilities. The position involves working with custom-designed equipment that powers one of the world's largest computing infrastructures. You'll be responsible for evaluating product designs, creating processes, and ensuring manufacturing standards are maintained across vendor partnerships.

The role sits within the Data and Analytics team of Technical Operations, where you'll be responsible for maintaining stable data feeds from manufacturing partners and transforming data to support various workflows. You'll need to be an expert in the manufacturing data ecosystem, working with diverse stakeholders to develop solutions for emerging challenges in manufacturing, quality, and data center operations.

As a Manufacturing Data Engineer, you'll collaborate with Commodity Managers and Design Engineers to determine infrastructure needs and product specifications. The compensation package is competitive, ranging from $138,000 to $202,000 base salary, plus bonus, equity, and comprehensive benefits. Responsibilities For Manufacturing Data Engineer, Technical Infrastructure, Platforms Technical Operations

  • Own manufacturing partner adoption of Google data standards. Set the vision, priorities, and governance structure for vendor teams
  • Be an expert in Google's manufacturing data systems, understand as-is system dependencies and impact on manufacturing and data center workflows
  • Utilize technical leadership and judgment to guide cross-functional teams through assessments of capabilities, gaps, and options/trade-offs
  • Understand and communicate emerging issues in manufacturing and data center workflows by querying and summarizing findings

Requirements For Manufacturing Data Engineer, Technical Infrastructure, Platforms Technical Operations

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Process Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or equivalent practical experience
  • 8 years of experience in manufacturing, supply chain, data center operations, or related field
  • 2 years of experience managing projects with team members from different organizations
  • 1 year of experience using SQL or another scripting language to find and summarize data
