Description For Network Implementation Engineer

Google is seeking a Network Implementation Engineer to join their Network Team, responsible for operating and maintaining their global network infrastructure. This role serves as the initial point for deploying, maintaining, and operating private data networks worldwide. The position involves collaboration with Technical Program Managers, Network Engineers, Design and Infrastructure Engineers, and Field Engineers, as well as external vendors and contractors.

The role is crucial in building and maintaining Google's world-class network infrastructure that serves millions of Internet users globally. You'll be working specifically with metro networks, which are at the edge of Google's network where it connects to users. The team owns the complete lifecycle of space, power, and network assets in all of Google's data centers and metro points of presence globally.

As a Network Implementation Engineer, you'll be responsible for ensuring the reliable operation of Google's network at scale, executing deployments, maintaining documentation, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to optimize operational efficiency. The position offers competitive compensation, including a base salary range of $122,000-$174,000, plus bonus, equity, and comprehensive benefits.

Responsibilities For Network Implementation Engineer

  • Build and operate Google's network reliably and at scale
  • Execute deployment, maintenance, and operations of private data networks worldwide
  • Develop creative approaches and collaborate with cross-functional teams to keep operational costs low
  • Monitor the network and repair issues while anticipating needs and escalating issues
  • Own network documentation, update and maintain network designs and plans

Requirements For Network Implementation Engineer

Linux
  • Bachelor's degree in Network Engineering or Telecom Engineering, a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience
  • 3 years of experience in DWDM or TCP/IP or system design operations methodology
  • Experience working with field operation technicians, engineers, contractors, or vendors in a telecommunications environment
  • Experience in one or more of the following disciplines: Layer 1 optical transmissions systems, layer 3 routing TCP/IP, wireless networking, network design, or operations
