Google is seeking a Network Implementation Engineer to join their team in Bengaluru, focusing on the deployment, maintenance, and operations of private data networks worldwide. This role is crucial in building and maintaining Google's global network infrastructure that serves millions of Internet users. The position involves working with Technical Program Managers, Network Engineers, and various stakeholders to ensure the network's reliability and scalability.

As a Network Implementation Engineer, you'll be responsible for managing network outages, implementing solutions, and maintaining optical network infrastructure. The role requires expertise in telecommunications, optical networks, and routing protocols. You'll work in a dynamic environment, participating in global team rotations and providing critical support for field operations.

Google's network team owns the full lifecycle of space, power, and network assets in all data centers and metro points of presence globally. Responsibilities For Network Implementation Engineer, Optical

  • Respond to network outages by providing diagnosis of Layer 1 to Layer 3 network errors and initiate repairs
  • Use/Develop workflows and systems to diagnose optical Layer 1 and Layer 3 network issues
  • Participate in 24/7 global team shift rotations
  • Provide remote support for field operations related to network repairs
  • Interface with high-level customers communicating repair status and updates

Requirements For Network Implementation Engineer, Optical

Linux
  • Bachelor's degree in Network Engineering or Telecom Engineering, a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience
  • 2 years of experience in telecommunications at carrier scale working with optical network infrastructure
  • Experience in network operations, systematic troubleshooting in IP and Optical environment
  • Experience working with field operation technicians, engineers, contractors, or vendors
  • Experience in TCP/IP and network routing protocols (OSPF, IS-IS, BGP, MPLS)
  • Understanding of Element Management System (EMS) and Network Management System (NMS)
  • Understanding of Internet Service Provider (ISP) network operations
