Google is seeking a Network Implementation Engineer to join their Optical Operations team, playing a crucial role in deploying, maintaining, and operating private data networks worldwide. This position sits at the heart of Google's network infrastructure, which serves millions of Internet users globally. The role involves working with various teams including Technical Program Managers, Network Engineers, and Field Engineers, as well as external vendors and contractors.
The position requires expertise in network operations and troubleshooting in IP and Optical environments, with a strong foundation in telecommunications at carrier scale. You'll be responsible for managing optical network infrastructure, transmission systems, and layer2/3 routers, ensuring the network's reliability and scalability.
As part of the Network Team, you'll own the full lifecycle of space, power, and network assets in Google's data centers and metro points of presence globally. The role involves everything from site acquisition to construction, and you'll be integral to network delivery, from architecture and design to installation and commissioning.
The ideal candidate should have a Bachelor's degree in Network Engineering or equivalent experience, strong troubleshooting skills, and experience with TCP/IP and network routing protocols. You'll need to be comfortable working in a 24/7 global team rotation and providing remote support for field operations.
