Google is seeking a Network Implementation Engineer to join their Network Team, responsible for operating and maintaining their global network infrastructure. This role serves as the initial point for deployment, maintenance, and operations of private data networks worldwide. The position involves working with various teams including Technical Program Managers, Network Engineers, Design and Infrastructure Engineers, and Field Engineers, as well as external vendors and contractors.
The role is crucial in building and maintaining Google's world-class network infrastructure that serves millions of Internet users globally. You'll be responsible for the full lifecycle of space, power, and network assets in Google's data centers and metro points of presence worldwide. This includes involvement from site acquisition to construction, and accountability for space and power delivery.
As a Network Implementation Engineer, you'll be tasked with ensuring network reliability and scalability, executing deployments, maintaining documentation, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to optimize operational efficiency. The position offers competitive compensation including a base salary range of $111,000-$163,000, plus bonus, equity, and comprehensive benefits.
The ideal candidate should have a strong background in network engineering or telecommunications, with at least 3 years of experience in DWDM, TCP/IP, or system design operations. Experience with optical transmission systems, routing, wireless networking, and working with field operations is highly valued. - Build and operate Google's network reliably and at scale
- Execute deployment, maintenance, and operations of private data networks worldwide
- Develop creative approaches and collaborate with cross-functional teams to keep operational costs low
- Monitor the network and repair issues while anticipating needs and escalating issues
- Own network documentation, update and maintain network designs and plans
Requirements For Network Implementation Engineer, Production Network Implementation
- Bachelor's degree in Network Engineering or Telecom Engineering, a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience
- 3 years of experience in DWDM or TCP/IP or system design operations methodology
- Experience working with field operation technicians, engineers, contractors, or vendors in a telecommunications environment
- Experience in one or more of the following disciplines: Layer 1 optical transmissions systems, layer 3 routing TCP/IP, wireless networking, network design, or operations
