Google is seeking a Network Operations Engineer to join their Network team, focusing on the deployment, maintenance, and operations of private data networks worldwide. This role is crucial in building and maintaining Google's global network infrastructure that serves millions of Internet users. The position involves working with various teams including Technical Program Managers, Network Engineers, and Field Engineers, as well as external vendors and contractors.

The Network Team is responsible for operating Google's network reliably and at scale, managing the full lifecycle of space, power, and network assets in all of Google's data centers and metro points of presence globally. From site acquisition to construction, the team is involved in every aspect of network delivery, including architecture, design, installation, configuration, activation, and commissioning.

As a Network Operations Engineer, you will be the initial point of contact for network implementation efforts, facilitating faster, better, and more efficient outcomes for the business and customers. The objective is to build the world's most reliable, cost-effective, and scalable network to support current and future customers globally.

The role offers competitive compensation including a base salary range of $93,000-$136,000, plus bonus, equity, and comprehensive benefits. Responsibilities For Network Operations Engineer, Network

  • Build and operate Google's network reliably at scale
  • Execute deployment, maintenance, and operations of private data networks worldwide
  • Develop creative approaches and collaborate with cross-functional teams to keep operational costs low
  • Monitor the network and repair issues while anticipating needs and escalating issues
  • Own network documentation, update and maintain network designs and plans

Requirements For Network Operations Engineer, Network

Linux
  • Bachelor's degree in Network Engineering or Telecom Engineering, a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience
  • 2 years of experience in DWDM or TCP/IP or system design operations methodology
  • Experience working with field operation technicians, engineers, contractors, or vendors in a telecommunications environment
  • Experience in one or more of the following disciplines: Layer 1 optical transmissions systems, layer 3 routing TCP/IP, wireless networking, network design, or operations
