Description For Network Operations Engineer, Technical Infrastructure

Google is seeking a Network Operations Engineer to join their Technical Infrastructure team. This role is crucial in maintaining Google's vast network that serves millions of Internet users worldwide. As a member of the Network Engineering team, you'll have a direct impact on design and feature enhancements to keep systems running smoothly. Your responsibilities include ensuring network operations are safe and efficient by monitoring performance, coordinating maintenance, adjusting hardware, and responding to connectivity issues.

Responsibilities For Network Operations Engineer, Technical Infrastructure

  • Respond to network outages by providing a diagnosis of Layer 1 to Layer 3 network errors and initiate and complete network repairs
  • Develop workflows and systems to diagnose optical Layer 1 and Layer 3 network issues to completion
  • Participate in 24/7 global team shift rotations
  • Provide remote support for field operations related to network repairs
  • Interface with high-level customers communicating repair status and updates as needed

Requirements For Network Operations Engineer, Technical Infrastructure

Python
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, a related field, or equivalent practical experience
  • 2 years of experience in telecommunications at carrier scale working with optical network infrastructure, transmission systems, layer2/3 routers, and data services
  • Experience in network operations and systematic troubleshooting
