Google is seeking an OTA Test Engineer to join their Wearables team, focusing on testing and validating wireless performance for Pixel wearable products. This role is crucial in ensuring the quality and reliability of Google's hardware infrastructure, particularly in the R&D lab where you'll work with cutting-edge equipment.

The position involves collaborating with hardware design teams to test, debug, and validate wireless performance across various technologies including WWAN, GNSS, WLAN/Bluetooth, UWB, and other emerging radio technologies. You'll be working on innovative Pixel wearable products while interfacing with talented cross-functional teams.

As part of Google's Devices & Services team, you'll contribute to creating radically helpful experiences for users by combining the best of Google AI, Software, and Hardware. The role requires expertise in antenna OTA testing, RF systems, and consumer electronics, with opportunities to work on advancing form factors and improving interaction methods.

The ideal candidate should have a strong background in Electrical Engineering with at least 3 years of experience in testing Antenna/RF systems. You'll be responsible for performing various RF/antenna measurements, generating test reports, and working closely with multiple teams to validate and test systems. The role offers competitive compensation including a base salary range of $93,000-$133,000, plus bonus, equity, and benefits.

Responsibilities For OTA Test Engineer, Wearables

  • Responsible for OTA testing and debugging of Pixel wearable products including different consumer electronics form-factors and wireless technologies
  • Perform conducted and radiated RF/antenna measurements of devices and systems and generate test reports
  • Work closely with Antenna/RF/Certification/Modem Software teams to bring-up, validate and test Antenna OTA systems
  • Operate and maintain test equipment including calibration, inspection, maintenance, repairing, Software/Hardware updates
  • Identify and recommend creative ways to enhance existing test practices and adopt new system level features or test protocols

Requirements For OTA Test Engineer, Wearables

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or related field or equivalent practical experience
  • 3 years of experience with industrial experience testing Antenna/RF systems for consumer electronics products
  • Experience with antenna OTA testing such as TRP, TIS, EIRP, Radiation Pattern, etc.
  • Experience with scripting and automation tools for data collection and analysis
  • Experience operating Antenna/RF test equipment
  • Experience with CTIA test plans and Carriers OTA specifications
  • Knowledge of industry standards, regulatory requirements and certification processes
  • Experience driving new technologies in RF and Antenna hardware testing
  • Experience in identifying root cause of discrepancies and troubleshooting
  • Excellent organizational skills and ability to multi-task
