Description For Packaging Reliability Engineer

As a Packaging Reliability Engineer at Google Hardware, you will play a key role in creating new consumer electronic products that meet a high bar for reliability and performance. You will work closely with product management and design engineering teams to define standards, specify tests, and supervise test execution and failure analysis. Your responsibilities include translating product management reliability goals into testable targets, leading packaging reliability test planning and execution, performing statistical data analysis, and collaborating with cross-functional teams.

Key responsibilities:

  • Translate product management reliability goals into appropriate testable targets
  • Lead packaging reliability test planning, methodology, and execution
  • Perform statistical data analysis, ALT testing and modeling, and risk assessment
  • Work in reliability test labs and collaborate with test engineers
  • Travel domestically and internationally

Required qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Hardware Engineering or equivalent practical experience
  • 4 years of experience in applying Design for Reliability techniques
  • Experience in reliability techniques like FTA, DFMEA, Weibull, and TTF models

Preferred qualifications:

  • Experience working with overseas manufacturing partners and processes
  • Experience in packaging qualification
  • Experience in failure analysis techniques for electrical, mechanical, or optical components
  • Proficiency in packaging testing standards like ISTA and ASTM
  • Ability to operate environmental chambers, vibration shakers, and drop testers
