Description For Power Architect, Platforms Engineering

Google is seeking a Power Architect for their Platforms Engineering team to lead the development of innovative power solutions for their computing infrastructure. This role focuses on designing and implementing board and chip level power topologies for large-scale applications. As part of the Technical Infrastructure team, you'll work on developing and maintaining data centers and building next-generation Google platforms. The position requires hands-on experience with hardware equipment in a simulated data center environment.

The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in power converter design, technical leadership, and system-level problem-solving. You'll be responsible for innovating power conversion solutions, leading complex projects, and partnering with industry leaders to evaluate and adopt cutting-edge technologies. The role combines technical expertise with leadership responsibilities, requiring both deep technical knowledge and the ability to guide teams and projects.

Responsibilities For Power Architect, Platforms Engineering

  • Innovate and design on board power conversion specifications and solutions. Analyze performance, cost, reliability and availability trade-offs
  • Lead projects that involve new technologies or new uses of multiple existing technologies
  • Partner with power industry leaders to lead evaluation and adoption of the most engaging technologies
  • Engage cross functionally to ensure successful roll-out, testing and complete validation
  • Provide technical leadership and direction while troubleshooting complex system level power issues

Requirements For Power Architect, Platforms Engineering

Linux
  • Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Physics, a related field, or equivalent practical experience
  • 8 years of experience working in power converter design including DC/DC converter design and board bring up and debugging, or 7 years of experience with an advanced degree
  • 5 years of experience in technical leadership
