Principal Engineer, AI Innovation and Research

Google is seeking a Principal Engineer for AI Innovation and Research to accelerate the development of AI technology and reimagine personal computing. This role is part of the Platforms and Ecosystems product area, which encompasses Google's various computing software platforms across environments (desktop, mobile, applications).

As a Principal Engineer, you will lead technically complex, cross-functional initiatives, driving collaboration and AI impact across multiple high-priority projects and key organizations within the company. You'll be responsible for navigating ambiguity, fostering partnerships, and driving research breakthroughs that will have a profound impact across numerous P&D product teams.

The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in software engineering and AI/ML research and development. You should have a solid understanding of AI/ML systems and innovations in the context of edge computing and devices. Leadership experience in scaling high-leverage, small teams and effectively collaborating with a broad set of organizations is highly valued.
