Principal Engineer, Federated Security Google Cloud

Google Cloud is seeking a Principal Engineer for Federated Security to lead security initiatives across their cloud platform. This role combines technical leadership with security expertise, focusing on protecting Google's infrastructure and customer data. The position requires 15 years of software engineering experience and offers a competitive salary range of $278,000-$399,000 plus benefits.

As a Principal Engineer, you'll be responsible for owning the security of assigned product portfolios, with a primary focus on removing security risks for broad customer classes. You'll drive major technical, product, and business strategies that impact multiple product areas and common infrastructure, working closely with Cloud Security Lead peers and Cloud CISO.

The role involves designing secure cloud services, threat modeling, and protocol design, with particular attention to emerging security challenges in GenAI applications and hybrid multi-cloud environments. You'll be expected to develop innovative solutions where precedent may not exist, directing complex workstreams with competing priorities.

Success in this position requires strong communication skills to convey complex technical concepts to diverse audiences, demonstrated ability to collaborate across different disciplines, and proven expertise in problem abstraction and building long-term solutions.
