Google's Personalization Modeling and Infrastructure (PMI) team is seeking a Principal Engineer to lead their Generative AI initiatives. This role sits at the intersection of Search, Discovery, and Shopping experiences, focusing on leveraging advanced AI/ML technology to enhance user personalization. The position requires a seasoned professional with extensive experience in machine learning, particularly in LLMs and deep learning.

Responsibilities For Principal Engineer, Generative AI

  • Develop and deploy personalized large language models (LLMs) to empower search and recommendation systems for a variety of applications
  • Conduct applied research on new LLM techniques for concrete product use cases
  • Work with collaborating teams' (e.g., Research, Search, Discover, Shopping, etc.) Engineers to integrate LLMs into our products and services
  • Contribute to the vision and roadmaps of Search, Discover, and Shopping

Requirements For Principal Engineer, Generative AI

Python
  • Master's degree or equivalent practical experience
  • 15 years of experience in software development, and with data structures/algorithms
  • 10 years of experience with ML/AI algorithms and tools, deep learning, or other AI/ML modeling
  • PhD in Computer Science, Statistics, or related field (preferred)
  • Experience in LLM related model fine tuning, large language model building
  • Experience in successfully applying machine learning approaches to real-world personalization problems
  • Experience with deep learning frameworks such as TFX or TFlex
  • Knowledge of statistical methods, and strong mathematical skills
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills
