Description For Principal Engineer, Rollouts

Google is seeking a Principal Engineer to lead the evolution of their internal Continuous Delivery (CD) system. The role requires crafting and executing a comprehensive technical strategy to standardize APIs and enhance CD performance.

The position involves building collaborative relationships across Google, including Product Management, UX, Program Management, Tech Writing, and multiple engineering organizations. You'll directly influence how Google delivers software, focusing on safety, velocity, reliability, risk reduction, compliance, and development velocity outcomes for server developers while maintaining innovation speed.

Working within Google's Technical Infrastructure team, you'll be part of the backbone that keeps Google's product portfolio running. The team is responsible for developing and maintaining data centers and building next-generation Google platforms. This role requires balancing innovation with backwards compatibility while driving cultural and technical changes for platform-wide industry integrations.

The ideal candidate will have extensive experience leading large, dynamic engineering teams across multiple organizations, with a proven track record of growing team capabilities through mentoring. You'll need strong expertise in API-first infrastructure software development and the ability to make well-supported decisions in complex situations.
